Examples of Garaging Address Situations

1.John & Mary Smith

Have recently arrived in Qld from Victoria and have had CRNs created with their Qld home address.

They must also show proof of garage address for their home address on every transaction.

2.Tom & Jane Brown

Already have Qld CRNs as they live permanently in Sydney but own a Gold Coast unit in which they live for part of the year.  Their Gold Coast unit is already attached to their CRN as a “Garage Address”.

They must also show proof of garage address for their Gold Coast unit on every transaction.

3.Dennis & Sylvia Johnson

Have retired and are permanently traveling.  They decide to upgrade their vehicle whilst in Qld but won’t be staying in Qld for very long – they’re presently living in a motor home village.

Must provide a statement outlining their circumstances.  It is safe to assume they will record a postal address in order to receive all mail.

4.Bigwig Communications Pty Ltd

Are based in Sydney but have a number of employees located throughout Qld for whom they purchase vehicles.  The Sydney address is used as a postal address, and the employee’s address is used as the garage address as they have no depot or office in Qld.

Must provide proof of garage address specific to that employee/vehicle for every transaction even if the garage address is already recorded on TRAILS.

5.Dealer Solutions Pty Ltd

Has an office in Brisbane and uses a PO box to receive mail.  Has been at this address for 8 years and has purchased various vehicles during that time.  Both the business and postal addresses are recorded on TRAILS.

Must provide proof of garage address in relation to the business address for every transaction.

6.New Plumbing Business Pty Ltd

Is a new company listed on ASIC and a new CRN is created.  They only have one address that is their business address, and their mail also goes there.

Must provide proof of garage address in relation to the business address for every transaction.

7.Smoke Central Fuels

Are based in Melbourne but have offices throughout Queensland.  Each of these offices purchases and maintains vehicles for its employees and the vehicles are garaged at these offices.  Each office in Qld is already recorded on TRAILS as a separate CRN.

Must provide proof of garage address in relation to the appropriate Qld office for every transaction.
