QT CRN

Top  Previous  Next

All business conducted with Queensland Transport (QT) will require a Customer Reference Number (CRN).  In most situations this will be your customers Queensland Drivers License number, however if your customer does not hold a Queensland Drivers Licence, then they will need  to get a CRN created, or you will have to confirm if they have a CRN via Dealer Solutions.

Organisations are obviously unable to provide a Queensland Drivers licence; however they still need to verify their identity.  This process is establishing that the organisation actually exists.  They can verify their legal status via a search on ASIC (make sure you double check the details with your customer to ensure you have the correct organisation), a copy of their trust deed or an IA number (their Incorporated Association Certificate number).  These numbers are used for CRN creation to verify the legal existence of organisations.  As a result, they are only able to be associated with one CRN (see here for more information about organisations).

On occasion you may need to have a CRN created for your customer; this process is discussed further on.

When do I need to apply for a CRN?

If a Current QLD Transport issued SmartCard  (license) cannot be supplied for Private Individuals or a CRN located using DAIS List Customer for an organisation – the CRN application process needs to be followed in every instance.

What is the CRN application process?

This is the process where the customer presents three forms of ID and completes a New Individual Customer Application Form to verify their identity.  It is crucial that original documents are witnessed in every instance that this process is being followed.
