Garaging Addresses

A garaging address is the address where the vehicle is garaged on a regular basis.

It is a requirement that vehicles registered by individuals, businesses and organisations in Queensland  must have a  garage address and customers must provide evidence when registering or transferring  vehicle.

Individuals

If the individual supplies a QLD Driver’s License they are exempted from supplying any proof of garaging address.

Evidence of garage address must be provided by individuals if the vehicle’s garaging address is different to the address recorded on their Queensland Driver Licence.

All other individuals must supply proof of QLD garaging address, even if the garaging address is in fact the individual’s residential address.

If the garaging address is not the individual’s residential address, then the garaging address must also be recorded on TRAILS (refer to the section on adding a garaging Address for more information on this.)

A permanent traveler (they don’t have a permanent residential address) must show either: an overseas passport with a visa or customer entry stamp (proving their visitor status) or provide a statement outlining their travel circumstances (e.g. retired and traveling).  In addition the vehicle must be either sighted by a CSC, or sold to them by a licensed QLD dealer.  You will still need to provide evidence of the address, normally where they are staying at the time of purchase.

Organisations

All organizations (other than licensed dealers and government entities) MUST show proof of garaging address at point of purchase for EVERY QLD registered vehicle.  Even if the organization’s garage address is the same as their business address and is already recorded on TRAILS, and even if the proof of garage address has been sighted by you previously for the same address.

Proof of garaging address must be sighted by a dealership employee in each circumstance described above.
