Bring in a Trade

Top  Previous  Next

A stock item that is acquired by way of a trade on another sold stock item gets treated very differently.  To begin with, no accounting purchase is created, because you will not be paying the vendor for this stock item.  That’s why it’s important the stock card gets created correctly from the very beginning.

From the Sold stock card (the stock item on which this was traded)

Open the Settlement tab of the Sold stock card.

Use the Select arrow at the end of the Trade Details field to open the Trade Details window.

Click Add.  This will open the stock browse, and all current stock items noted as Trades will appear.

Click Add to add this trade into stock.  You’ll notice in the Stock Create box the flag Trade is already set.

The new stock card will be created with a status of On Order.  Once the stock item it is traded on has moved to "Sold" status, the trade will become "In Stock" provided all required details have been entered.

Enter the details of the Trade including Purchase Price and Trade Allowance,  Save then Close.

You are now returned to the stock browse.  Select the just-added stock item, and you will return to the Trade Details window.

Repeat the process if there are multiple trades.

When all trades have been entered and selected, click Close.

You will now be back on the Settlement tab of the original sold stock item.  Click Save.
