Item Codes have a number of roles within Dealerlogic software:
For commonly purchased goods and services, creating an Item Code will eliminate repetitive keying of the details;
Where specific items regularly form part of the vehicle sale, an Item Code can be configured to be available to all stock item sales, and also to be printed on the vehicle sales contract.
If you want the Cost of Sales - Reconditioning to be broken down on the Profit & Loss report into different accounts, use Item Codes to specify the exact COS account that each Item Code is to be applied to.
Item Codes are optional, but in the situations described above will prove useful.
