Take a deposit on Sale of a consignment vehicle

Record the deposit if any using the Deposit entry window;

The Dealer’s Receipt window will default to “Trust Account Receipt”, the deposit can be grouped within a Bank Deposit if required;

Enter the remainder of the Settlement details until the Settlement screen indicates “In Balance”;

The Balance Payable field should be completed with the amount required for final payment.

The Sale Invoice (or Order) button will indicate the 2 Sale journals created – the first is always for the add-on extras even if there are zero, and the second is always for the total sale price of the vehicle.  This is not a "double-up", see Pay yourself for commission and other items.

Note:  Deposits are always applied to the Sale that relates to the sale of the vehicle, NOT the sale reflecting the add-on extras.  When only a deposit has been recorded, the second sale (for the actual vehicle) shows as “Partly Paid”, whereas the sale for the add-on extras shows “Not Paid”.
