Customizing the ribbon

Top  Previous  Next

The ribbon is where you will find all available functions applicable to you.  Because it's likely you only use a select few on a regular basis we've added the Quick Access Toolbar where you can store those Favourite buttons that you use a lot.

There is also further customisation available within the ribbon itself.

If you prefer your screen resolution to be set quite low giving you large print, you might find that the ribbon takes up too much room.  Easy - minimise it!

From the Edit control on the Quick Access Toolbar select Minimise the Ribbon.

Or from anywhere on the ribbon, right-click then select Minimise the Ribbon.

The ribbon will be hidden, although the Tab headings will still be visible.

Accessing buttons on the Ribbon whilst it's minimised is also simple, just select the Tab you need then the Ribbon will appear temporarily.  As soon as you have selected the button, the Ribbon will be restored to its minimised state.

To restore the Ribbon permanently, use the same steps to access the Minimise the Ribbon selection, and untick it.

hmtoggle_plus1Removing buttons from the Ribbon that I never use

If you remove buttons from the Ribbon they cannot be accessed by any other means, so only do this if you're sure you'll never need it.  If you change your mind the Ribbon can be reset back to Defaults, so it's not irreversible.

To remove the any button from the Ribbon follow these steps:

Open the Ribbon to the Home tab, then right-click and select More Commands. The Customize window will appear.

Whilst the Customize window is open, click and drag the Button you wish to remove off the Ribbon.  Let it drop anywhere else on your screen.  It has now left the Ribbon.

To restore buttons previously removed from the Ribbon, the entire Group to which the button belonged will be Reset to defaults.  Firstly identify the name of the Group the button belonged to.  You might need to contact the Dealer Solutions Service Desk for assistance.

Right-click anywhere in the Ribbon and select the More Commands option.  The Customize window will open as shown below.  Select the Group from the list of Toolbars shown, then click Reset.  All buttons belonging to that group will be restored.
